项目摘要

今年度は，外国機関に渡航し，海外共同研究者との協力に基づいて，交付申請に基づいた研究を実施した。本科研の研究目的は，近代世界海運のデータベースを作成し，アジア太平洋地域が世界物流の中で占める位置を解明することである。そのために，海運の歴史資料が集積している英国での資料調査を行った。具体的には，船舶の航行記録を収集しているロイズ社の資料を，ロンドンの国立海洋博物館，ギルドホール図書館で収集し，その資料に基づいて，既存のデータベースを拡張する作業を行った。さらに，LSEの図書館，大英図書館，そして英国国立公文書館にて，世界各国政府が作成した海運統計の収集を行った。これらの作業により，国内海運と国際海運の両方を統合した形での世界海運のデータベースを作成した。このデータベースから，20世紀初頭におけるアジアの海運量を推計し，さらにアジアの海運量の規模を規定する要因について分析を行い，アジア域内ではエネルギーと食糧関連の貨物の移動量が大きいことを確定した。つまり，19世紀半ばにはじまる交通革命は，大陸をまたぐ国際海運を発展させると同時に，それ以上に域内の海運量の規模を拡張させた。以上の事実は，既存のアジア貿易史研究の成果と符合するものである。以上の資料調査に基づいた分析結果は，渡航先での海外共同研究者と議論を行い，それを国際的に発信するための予備的な研究レポートの作成を行った。さらに，LSEに所属する研究者たちと当該研究についての情報共有を行い，またLSEで開催されたワークショップに参加することで，国際的な人的ネットワークの構築に努めた。以上の研究活動を通じて培った知見の一部は，2022年7月に開催された世界経済史会議で研究報告を行い，さらに2023年3月にLSEで開催されたセミナーでその総合的成果を公表した。

This year, foreign institutions are conducting research, overseas co-researchers are collaborating, and applications are being submitted. The purpose of this scientific research is to create a digital environment for modern world shipping and explain the position of the Pacific Ocean region in world logistics. A survey of shipping history data was conducted in the United Kingdom. Specifically, the ship's navigation records are collected in the National Maritime Museum, and the library is collected in the data base. Today, the LSE Library, the British Library, and the British National Register produce collections of shipping statistics from governments around the world. The international shipping industry is integrated into the international shipping industry. The volume of lost shipping was estimated at the beginning of the 20th century, and the volume of lost shipping was determined by the analysis of the factors that led to the loss of goods in the region. In the 19th century, the transportation revolution began, and international shipping expanded on the mainland. At the same time, the scale of shipping in the above areas expanded. The above facts are consistent with the existing achievements of trade history research. The results of the analysis of the above data survey indicate that the overseas co-researchers have conducted research on the development of the international research project. In addition, LSE researchers are invited to participate in the study when information sharing is conducted, and LSE is invited to participate in the study when international researchers are involved. Part of the above research activities were conducted through the training of knowledge, and the results of the research report of the World Economic History Conference were launched in July 2022, and the results of the comprehensive research were announced in March 2023.
