In the previous year, I published several articles on the Markovian and non-Markovian dynamics in open quantum systems [1-3], including one work [1] particularly focused on the dynamics when the characteristic frequency of a quantum emitter inside a waveguide matches with the cutoff frequency inside of that waveguide, which is a universal result. A key factor influencing the dynamics in this case is an exceptional point (EP) appearing directly at the cutoff. In the last year, significant progress has been made in extending that problem to the specific case of an electron undergoing cyclotronic motion inside of a cylindrical waveguide. (Note that the cyclotron problem is technically a classical problem; however, the problem is still largely analogous to the quantum problem.) Working in part with my collaborator from the US, a Hamiltonian has been derived representing the dynamical evolution of the system and now we are in the middle of working out the detailed dynamics for the production of the optical vortex. I have shown some simple approximations for the decay width and modified frequency of the coupled modes under various circumstances, which should aid in the larger calculation of the dynamics.[1] Phys.
