The targets of the project comprise the investigation and exemplary fabrication of adaptive, planar, integrated optical filter structures which can be used to mitigate the linear distortions occurring in long haul data transmission systems. The filter structures will be more energy efficient than the respective implementations in the digital domain and will enable the implementation of concepts which are not realizable by electronic digital signal processing.
