スウェーデンでの重度障害者が社会と取り結ぶ関係の包括的かつ微視的な理解を目指し、本年度は現地調査を実施するとともに、これまで得られた調査データの分析および論文の執筆を中心に進めた。まず、スウェーデンにて2019年6月～9月の約3か月間の現地調査を実施した。リンショーピン市において重症心身障害のあるパーソナルアシスタンス利用者一名の自宅生活を中心に、当事者や関係者に対して生活状況等についての聞き取りとともに、日常生活におけるコミュニケーションや出来事の記録を行った。また、ヘッスレホルム市において、障害のある人びとの日中活動所での追跡調査を実施した。文献調査として、リンショーピン市立図書館にてスウェーデンの障害者福祉に関する歴史・民族誌資料の渉猟を実施した。また、日本における比較事例の調査のため、2019年10月～2020年3月の93日間において、浜松市での重度訪問介護の利用者の居宅生活および日中活動について調査を実施した。重度訪問介護利用者一名を中心に、支援をめぐるコミュニケーションの方法と関係性に焦点を当てて参与観察と記録を行った。文献調査として、スウェーデン社会省や当事者団体発行の報告書を中心に障害者サービス利用の状況の整理、スウェーデンの社会福祉研究の文献を中心とした研究動向の把握を行った。調査データの分析として、日常生活における自立を構成する要素について調査対象者の認識や実践の調査データから整理した。そして、自立の達成や困難について観察事例の検討を行い、自立の状態が障害当事者や支援者を中心とした現場に作用する様々なアクターの相互作用のなかで形成されていく過程があることについて論文の執筆を進めた。以上の分析により、障害ある人の自立の権利の擁護と同時にそれを支援する共同的な過程をも捉える視座を提供する点に本研究の重要性がある。
