项目摘要

今年度は新型コロナウイルス感染拡大の影響で琉球列島での現地調査を実施することができず（特別研究員「採用中断」）、琉球地域の女性祭司が帯びる、個々の村落の枠組みを超える職能を明らかにするための聞き取り資料を現地において収集することは叶わなかった。しかし南琉球八重山地域の女性祭司及び祭祀関係者と電話、手紙で定期的に連絡を取り、コロナ禍における祭祀の実施状況及び民俗宗教上の神認識のあり方の動態を把握することに努めた。今年度は文献の検討、資料の分析を中心とする研究に取り組んだ。まず、琉球王府の宮廷儀礼歌謡集『おもろさうし』における歌謡「オモロ」の表現の分析を進めた。王府の儀礼「君手擦りの百果報事」で歌われた「オモロ」に付される「詞書き」に着目し、儀礼の段階に応じたオモロの表現の明確な使い分け、特に儀礼の後段のみに出る国王と女性祭司、また神と女性祭司という二者が「対峙」する表現に着目し、申請者が蓄積する現地調査資料とあわせ、琉球列島の女性祭司の宗教実践を捉える新たな観点として、従来の「憑依」のみならず「対峙」に着目する必要性を提唱する学会発表を行ない、論文をまとめた。また、女性祭司が機能する琉球・沖縄社会の基底にある、姉妹が「ヲナリ神」として兄弟を守護する「ヲナリ神信仰」の学説史の形成を検討するとともに、日本民俗学において沖縄のヲナリ神信仰への知見を得たことを一つの契機としてたてられた「妹の力」論及び、同論を批判的に継承する女性史を主とする諸研究を、沖縄研究の立場から検討し、「妹の力」論の問題点と可能性を探る口頭発表を行なった。以上の成果及び、現在進めている、1970～80年代の沖縄研究で個々の村落としての「シマ」の独自性が重視された経緯への検討をふまえ、特別研究員「採用再開」後、村落の枠組みを超えた観点から琉球列島の女性祭司の特質をさらに多面的に明らかにする研究を進展させる。
