项目摘要

本研究は島嶼地域を対象に社会・経済構造と観光施設の立地との関係を統計分析によって明らかにすることを目的としている。島嶼地域を対象とした研究では個別地域を対象とした記述的な研究の蓄積は多いが、計量的手法を用いたマクロスケールによる研究は少ない。統計分析は地域の特徴を実証するうえで効果的な手法であるが、島嶼地域の有する複数の関係性を明らかにする手法として有用である。本研究は観光による地域振興を目指す島嶼地域において重要な視点となり、離島振興を考える上で重要な研究だといえる。2022年度（令和4年度）は国内外の島嶼地域を対象とした観光需要に関する研究を行い、2本の論文として発表することができた。前年度までの成果では交通網の観光需要への影響を明らかとしたが、立地面との関係については課題の残すものであった。この視点を踏まえ、1つ目の論文では全国の離島振興法に指定されている地域を対象に交通面や都市部との近接性を考慮した観光需要に関する統計モデルを構築し、立地面や交通環境の違いによる影響を明らかにした。もう一つはマルタ共和国における語学留学と観光のそれぞれの需要についての分析を行い、それぞれの需要の違いについて明らかにした。EUの加盟国であることから観光需要についてはヨーロッパからの観光需要が高い一方で、語学学校への留学生についてはヨーロッパ以外からの需要が高い傾向がみられた。2本の論文はそれぞれ対象とした地域は異なるものであったが、立地面からの観光需要への影響を明らかする結果が示された。論文投稿を行った先は島嶼地域を対象とした研究を扱う学術雑誌であり、出版されている論文も学際的なの内容となっている。そのため多様な視点からの査読をもらい、出版過程の中で自身の研究を深めることができた。
