本年は,直接的な描画対象となる日本固有種, 絶滅危惧種植物の実態撮影調査の進行に注力した. 植物個体が持つ形態的情報, 視覚的情報量は色彩,形態,質感を合わせて非常に多い. 画力に長けた牧野博士をはじめとする植物学者による解剖図について, 描画時の実体情報の取捨選択過程を把握することが本研究の目的において重要である.各部位や表層の毛質に至るマクロ画像など, 調査者本人が実体の細部観察による個体の情報を目視し, 撮影によって必要な視覚的情報の記録を重ねた.実地調査は, 保護林地帯実地調査および本州の植物多様性保全拠点園に指定されている植物園内で実施し,特に多くの希少種が自生する沖縄北部の森林地帯調査においては, 植物分類学分野の研究者陣による協力を得て,絶滅危惧ⅠA類（CR),およびII類(VU)に指定されるラン科をはじめ,複数の国内指定希少野生植物の自生地での様子を観察, 撮影した.植物解剖図に関する文献調査においては, 牧野富太郎博士自身が描画した時期の原画や関連資料調査から,画材による表現特徴, また石版(リトグラフ)をはじめとする印刷技法による解剖図表現特徴の関連性についての考察を進めている. 牧野の描画手法が江戸時代の本草図譜等から強い影響を受けている点, グラフィックデザインの観点からはCurtisBotanicalMagazine等,欧州の収集資料の影響も認められ,デザイン過程とプロセスについて文献収集と解読・分類考察の初段階を完了した.
