令和４年度は、湛睿の草木成仏説の検討に先立って、鎌倉から南北朝の華厳宗における宋代仏教の受容という観点から、称名寺および高山寺（京都府）所蔵の南宋版単刻本とその写本の閲覧調査を行い、成果の一部を査読付き学会誌『東洋の思想と宗教』第40号にて発表した。宋版についてはこれまで主に書誌学的な見地から研究が進められてきたが、本研究では、出版という新たな技術・文化と仏教思想との関係という観点から考察を加えた。鎌倉時代には、宋版の輸入や寺院での開板事業が各地で活発化するのであり、古来日本で流通していた写本とは別系統のテキストを持つ宋版の登場は、日本中世の華厳宗の思想形成にも影響を及ぼしたと考えられる。さらに、当時最新の学説であった宋代華厳宗の学説を湛睿がどのように受容したかという問題の考察に先立ち、神奈川県立金沢文庫管理・称名寺所蔵の湛睿撰『華厳演義鈔纂釈』および『華厳五教章纂釈』等の断簡の整理を行い、『大正新脩大蔵経』や『大日本仏教全書』所載のテキストとの対照を進めた。また、叡山文庫（滋賀県）における調査では、草木成仏論に関わる資料の閲覧調査を行い、叡山文庫真如蔵『法相宗十疑』のテキストを検討した。加えて、称名寺聖教の調査中に発見した新出の山王神道写本群の分析により、これまで知られてこなかった比叡山と称名寺の交流の形跡を見出すことができた。今後は、考察の対象となる時代や地域の特徴にも目配りしつつ、草木成仏論の展開を考察していきたい。
