项目摘要

本研究では、ブラジルに発祥し世界規模に拡大したアヤワスカ宗教に注目し、その動態を植民者たちの側がアマゾニアの歴史生態学的景観に包摂される過程として捉えることを試みる。本研究では、この事象に環世界の観点から接近し、精神展開性の薬草茶アヤワスカを介して人間の内界で経験される知覚の再構成とアヤワスカの獲得に向けてアグロフォレストリーの形で営まれる外界に向けた作用の再構成との相関性について考察にする。2022年度はアヤワスカ宗教の発祥地であるブラジル・アクレ州一帯を訪問し、サント・ダイミ系の2つの共同体で実地調査を行った。調査を通じて、(1)アヤワスカを得るために営まれるアグロフォレストリーに見られる植生遷移の過程を把握することができた。また(2)アヤワスカの2つの原料植物が、多様な食用・薬用植物との複合のなかで同地域での生活に不可欠な栄養源の一部として栽培されているという認識を得るに至った。また、調査者自身は調査期間中、細菌性の感染症に罹る経験をした。アヤワスカ宗教が関心を向ける事柄の1つに「治癒」が挙げられる。高温多湿の熱帯林での生活は、生態系との相互作用からもたらされる様々な感染症と隣り合わせであり、これは同宗教で治癒を目的とする儀礼の体系化が進んだ背景でもある。この観点から、アヤワスカの実践における適応や治癒といった観念について多角的に捉える視点が得られた。2022年度は、国内研究会で研究発表を行った。またブラジル訪問中には本研究に関わる書籍出版の公開前シンポジウムで講演を行った。
