项目摘要

（1）与党の行動を有権者が統制する上で、野党からの情報伝達が期待される。監視役としての役割を野党が果たせるかどうかを、チープトークモデルを用いて分析した論文を執筆した（"Does Informative Opposition Influence Electoral Accountability?"）。野党が与党の提出した法案に反対することが、法案が有権者にとって好ましくないことを一定程度示唆するものであったとしても、野党の反対は与党の評判だけでなく野党の評判も低下させる結果、選挙結果に影響を与えないこと、その結果、野党は監視役としての機能を果たせないことを明らかにした。（２）メディアも政治家の行動を統制する上での監視役としての機能が期待されている。しかし、メディアが正確な情報を入手するためには、監視する対象である権力者への情報アクセスを得ることが欠かせない。この点に着目し、監視対象である権力者がメディアの情報源でもある場合、権力者は情報アクセスをだれに与えるかを戦略的に選ぶことで、メディアをおもねらせることが可能になることを示した（"Watchdog versus Yes Man: News Source and Media Competition"）。（３）政治家が少数の有権者しか信じていない誤情報を主張することがある。政治家による誤情報の拡散の背後にあるインセンティブを分析した（"Strategic Misinformation: The Role of Heterogeneous Confirmation Bias"）。有権者が確証バイアスを持つ時、誤情報を主張すると人数としては少数だが固い支持基盤を獲得できる。そのため、能力の低い政治家が誤情報を主張することを示した。また、ソーシャルメディアの発達と政治家の誤情報拡散インセンティブの関係性も明らかにした。
