2022年度は科研費を使用せず、それ以前（2020年度末）に当時の所属大学の研究費で実施した都道府県魅力度に関するプレ調査（インターネット調査）のデータ分析を実施し、試作した質問項目の基礎的な回答傾向を確認した。この知見をもとに2023年度は科研費による1回目の本調査を実施する予定である。プレ調査の結果では、そもそも調査費用と画面設計の都合上、一度に大量の回答や評価を調査対象者に求めていたため、サティスファイサー（内容を精査せず手抜き回答を行う回答者）を多数発生させてしまっていた。項目によっては、半数程度に及ぶなどの結果となっていた。この結果を反省材料とし、本調査では大幅な改善が必要と判断される。一方で、サティスファイサーを除外した基礎集計レベルの分析では、一定の知見が得られた。例えば、最高魅力度を持つ都道府県として他県在住者から選択される回数を県別に集計すると、その傾向は自身の都道府県の魅力についての評価（県別の自己評価平均値）の高低と比較的類似したものとなっていた。また、経県値総合点を県別に計算すると、都市部の地域で比較的高く、地形的に海や山脈で他県と隔てられた地域で低い傾向にあった。上記のプレ調査のデータの分析結果（サティスファイサーの発生に関する結果も含む）については、「都道府県魅力度評価と経県値に関する基礎分析 」というタイトルで、2022年8月28日、第73回数理社会学会大会にてオンラインでのポスター発表を行った。その際に来場者からいただいたコメントとして、一元化した回答で評価を行う仕組みが関東地方の都県間の序列意識を前提としているように捉えられるが、近畿地方の府県では関東ほどの明確な序列がないのではないかという指摘や、プレ調査の段階では全47都道府県ではなく特定の地方に限定して細かく分析した方が良かったのではないかといった指摘をいただいた。
