霊長類では、母親以外の個体がアカンボウに接触するinfant handlingが日常的に観察される。ヒトにおいても同様に、他個体の産んだ乳幼児との接触がみられる。そのため、IHによってハンドラーが得る適応度上の利益を解明し、ヒトの共同育児の進化の過程を理解しようと、これまで多くの研究が行われてきた。これまでのinfant handlingの研究では、行動データを収集し、infant handlingの機能を明らかにしようと試みてきた。しかし、行動データからだけでは、ハンドラーの内部状態及び適応度の向上については検証できない。本研究では、ヒト以外の霊長類におけるinfant handlingの生理的メカニズム、機能および適応的意義を明らかにし、ヒトの共同育児における進化的基盤を考察することを目的としている。今年度は、5～6月の春季および10～11月の秋季に、宮城県金華山にて、ニホンザル野生群の行動観察および尿サンプルの回収を行った。まだ出産をしたことないコドモ～ワカモノ期のメス（4～6才）7個体を対象として、1回1時間以上の個体追跡により行動観察を行い、infant handlingおよび社会行動の行動データを収集した。春季には各個体10時間以上の行動データおよび計32個の尿サンプルを回収した。秋季も同様に、各個体10時間以上の行動データおよび計34個の尿サンプルを回収した。現在は収集した行動データの入力および、解析対象となるinfant handling、そのほかの社会行動に関わるデータの抽出を行っている。尿サンプルは適切な条件下で保存しており、今後、オキシトシンレベルの測定に使用する。
