本研究は、第二次世界大戦後の沖縄が、米軍統治下において、本土と異なる政策や制度が実施され、本土の母子政策とは異なる親（母）子関係が成立してきたことを明らかにすることを目的としている。沖縄では、1956年に本土とは異なり優生保護法が廃止されるなど、「産むこと・育てること」について本土とは別の政策・制度が実施されてきた。このなかで、母（親）と子を別のものとして考える視点が根付いていると考えられる。それは、子どもを持つことや産むことにどのような影響を与えたのか/いないのかを歴史資料の検証とインタビュー調査の両面から明らかにする。今年度は、沖縄での資料収集を中心に実施した。沖縄では第二次世界大戦以前より家族のつながりが重要視され、トートーメという祖先崇拝や祭祀継承について女性団体からの反対運動が戦後実施され「男女の平等」について祭祀についても議論され、女性の祭祀への参加が本土よりも先に問題として取り上げられている。他にも沖縄では保育園、学童保育の数が多いものの主婦（兼業・専業）の割合は多かった。一方で、幼稚園の割合は少なかった。設立母体を見ると本土には多い仏教系の幼稚園が少なく、キリスト教系幼稚園の割合が高いことが明らかになった。また、米軍従事者との子どもを持つシングルの女性も多く、国籍に関する点からも「産むこと・育てること」に違いがある可能性が示唆された。今後、これらかの文献を分析し、母子を一体と考える、規範的な家族像が目指されてこなかった歴史を明らかにしたい。
