本研究は，劣等コンプレックスという概念に着目して，体育授業における児童・生徒の体育嫌いの実態を明らかにし，体育嫌いの低減のための方途を検討することを目的としている。具体的には，以下の4点の研究課題を設定している。（1）児童・生徒の各体育領域の好意度と劣等コンプレックスの相関関係について，校種（小学校・中学校・高等学校）の差異という視点から調査する。（2）教師が体育嫌いの児童・生徒を低減させるために実施している指導方法および指導内容について調査する。（3）（1）および（2）の結果から得られた知見をもとに，児童・生徒の体育嫌いを低減させるための方途を，行政（教育委員会）・大学教員・現職教員で協働的に検討し，授業研究を実施する。（4）（3）で検討した授業研究の実施前後に行った劣等コンプレックスの変容を調査し，児童・生徒の体育嫌いを低減させるための体育授業を提案する。今年度の研究の成果については，小学校・中学校・高等学校での質問紙調査の実施が終わり，研究課題（1）の論文化を検討している最中である。その際，質問紙調査として援用した佐々木・須甲（2016）の劣等コンプレックス尺度は，調査対象が小・中学校の児童・生徒に限定されており高等学校の実態については言及されていなかったため，学校体育全体の実態を把握するためには，小・中学校だけではなく高等学校の実態も踏まえた包括的な実態把握が必要となった。したがって，（1）の論文化を進めるにあたり，高等学校の質問紙調査の整合性を担保するため，高校生の体育授業に対する劣等コンプレックスの因子的概念を明らかにし，体育領域の好意度との関連性を検討することを目的とした論文を執筆中である。また，（2）の指導方法および指導内容についての調査としては，小学校教員を対象としたインタビュー調査も実施済である。
