Performed experiments outlined in the proposal on the excitation of atoms to highly excited Rydberg states next to the optical nanofiber, to a large range of states, measured the excitation spectrum and developed a complex theoretical model including the surface interactions to match the experiment. Results are in the peer review process and available in preprint on ArXiV.I attended an international workshop and international conference in the field which were invaluable in developing ideas and plans for the coming work.Significant work has been performed on preparing for the next stage of experiments, I have developed calculations for the optical trapping of Rydberg atoms next the optical nanofiber and am optimizing the calculations to find the best experimental parameters.
