In 2022, I designed 5 experiments to measure natural motor tempo via a self-paced finger-tapping task and the intrinsic cognitive tempo using cognitive modeling among four cognitive tasks (learning, memory, perceptual decision, and model-based reasoning). A total of 32 young participants aged 25 to 34 years old and 84 participants aged 65 to 84 years old were included in our behavioral study. Recently, we successfully carried out a 10-day EEG study among 29 senior participants aged over 65 years who reside near Tokyo. The primary aim of this trial was to gain insights into the mechanisms that drive motor and cognitive aging. We will explore the intrinsic correlation between alpha oscillations and general motor and cognitive tempo across multi-tasks based on neurocomputational modeling.
