喘息は「気道の慢性炎症を本態とし、変動性をもった気道狭窄（喘鳴、呼吸困難）や咳などの臨床症状で特徴づけられる疾患」と定義されている。気道の慢性炎症が気道過敏性の亢進や気道構造の変化（リモデリング）、気道狭窄などをきたし症状を引き起こす。喘息の病態評価には古くから呼吸機能検査が用いられるが、近年、広域周波オシレーション法による呼吸抵抗の測定が注目されている。広域周波オシレーション法による呼吸抵抗の評価は、安静呼吸を行うだけで末梢気道抵抗の評価が可能なため、強制呼出が困難な患者の評価に有効性が高く、また、頻繁な呼吸機能検査の実施が難しいコロナ禍において有用な検査となる可能性がある。しかし、広域周波オシレーション法によって呼吸抵抗が亢進している患者における適正な薬物の介入に関してははっきりしない。本研究では未だ解明されていない喘息患者における広域周波オシレーション法での呼吸抵抗に基づいた新規治療法を探索することを目的とする。治療法の探求を行う前段階として、増悪による影響を反映する呼吸抵抗の各種パラメータの比較、増悪に影響する項目、カットオフ値の特定を行う。まず喘息患者から書面にて同意が得られた患者を対象に一年間の前向き横断研究を行い、増悪（3日以上の経口ステロイド内服、ステロイドの定期内服の増量、救急受診でのステロイド投与、喘息増悪での入院を増悪と定義する。）のエピソードの有無などの調査し、増悪群、非増悪群の2群間で各種呼吸抵抗を含めた各種パラメータの比較を行う。
