研究成果についての具体的内容：本研究の目的の１つ目に挙げた「全ての肺炎球菌ワクチン血清型に対する抗体測定を目的とした新規24項目Luminexアッセイの開発と検証」に関して、開発を2022年夏までに完了した。検証についても、2022年末までに、感度・特異度・再現性についての評価を終了した。従来法であるELISAとの比較によりいずれのワクチン血清型も非劣性を示している。２つ目に挙げた「唾液を用いたワクチン血清型に対する抗体価測定の可能性の検証」について、最初の段階である倫理審査については長崎大学内倫理委員会からの承認が４月に得られ、ネパール健康研究会議（倫理委員会）への承認申請の準備中である。研究成果の意義：これまでの成果として、新規アッセイ系における感度・特異度・再現性のデータを収集した。これは様々な濃度の血清に含まれる抗体量（抗体濃度）を正確に検出できることを評価するものであり、採取する検体量が少なく、希釈が必要な場合であっても、血清中抗体濃度測定は可能であることを証明している。また、特異度に関しては、非特異的結合が血清型間でどの程度起こるかを検証するものであり、これも従来法に劣らないデータとなった。再現性も高く、実用性が高いアッセイであることが見込まれる。研究成果の重要性：従来法は多く検体、時間、費用を要するが、新規アッセイ系による大幅に効率が良くなる。今後、新規に承認されたワクチンも含め、ワクチンの効果を量的に評価する際の一助となる。
