Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is one of the common forms of human malignancies and because of its relatively high metastasis potential, compared to other keratinocyte cancer, the mortality rate of SCC patients is also high. Primarily it develops from DNA mutations caused by prolonged exposure to ultraviolet radiation (UVR) mainly in the squamous cells and it can metastasize through blood vessels and lymph nodes, and cause serious complications. The purpose of our research is to elucidate whether IL-33 induction can be beneficial against SCC development and metastasis and find out the possible mechanism for that. We have conducted experiments to investigate SCC tumor progression IL-33 -/- mice and WT mice. Mice were divided into 2 groups; 1) IL-33 -/- DMBA/TPA, 2) WT DMBA/TPA. Until now, Results have shown that the IL-33 -/- mice showed less tumor progression.
