高齢化率が上昇する中、この高齢者が要介護状態になる原因は疾患による影響が大きいが「高齢による虚弱（フレイル）」によるものも増え、このフレイルの中核要因であるサルコペニアによる嚥下障害も問題となってきている。そこでサルコペニア（廃用）を予防・進行抑制するために、申請者は嚥下関連筋のサルコペニアの誘因として、運動頻度の低下に注目し、嚥下機能においては嚥下頻度の低下が嚥下関連筋の筋肉量減少に関与するのではないかと考えた。申請者はこれまで、要介護高齢者において嚥下頻度と嚥下関連筋の筋肉量に相関関係があることを明らかにした。一旦サルコペニアが進んでしまうと回復するのは困難であり、要介護高齢者では訓練も難しい。そこで、今回は要介護の前の段階でも変化がみられるのかを明らかにし、予防につなげることを目標とする。要介護状態の前であれば訓練の効果も出やすいため、変化があれば訓練を行い、変化がなくても維持する訓練メニューを検討できる。本研究では「非要介護高齢者の嚥下頻度と嚥下関連筋の関連」について明らかにするために以下の測定・解析を行う。①嚥下頻度測定、②超音波検査により嚥下関連筋の筋肉量・質を測定③筋肉量に影響する因子のデータ収集を行い、嚥下頻度と筋肉量との相関分析、嚥下関連筋の筋肉量への影響の強い因子を多変量解析により明らかにする。本年度の予定は、筋肉量の減少が認められるかを確認するために、健常成人に対して、超音波検査を用いて嚥下関連筋の筋肉量を測定し、基礎データを蓄積する。また、検者内信頼性（再現性）を確立し、研究協力者とデータ採取を行うことで検者間信頼性を高めた。高齢者に対してデータ採取を開始した。
