本研究では，自動運転車両の外向けヒューマンマシンインタフェース（HMI）と歩行者間のインタラクション時に醸成される過度な信頼感の背後にある要因の分析を行う．さらに，信頼感に影響する要因を考慮した外向けHMIの構築と認知工学的実験を通じた外向けHMIの有効性を検証する．2022年度は，外向けHMIの多様なデザインについて調査を行い，オーナーカーやサービスカー等の車両の目的による外向けHMIのデザイン検討の必要性を確認している．これらの知見をまとめて，実際に人々がどのような外向けHMIのデザインを望ましいと考えているか，及び，どのような交通場面においてリスクを感じているかなどを確認するためには，人口統計学要因を考慮した大規模のWebアンケート調査を行う必要がある．Webアンケート調査に用いる交通環境の画像・動画を作成するため，オランダ・アイントホーフェン工科大学の研究チームが配布しているバーチャルリアリティプログラムを導入している．調査参加者には，歩行者目線で外向けHMIを評価していただくことから，現実感を向上できるVRシミュレーションを作成する予定である．現行の課題として，今後の認知工学的実験の実施を備えたアイトラッキング機能付きのVRデバイスの購入と，それとVRシミュレーションの連携が可能な環境を整備する必要がある．今後の方向性としては，歩行者-外向けHMI付き自動運転車間のインタラクションをシミュレーションできる環境の構築に加え，Webアンケート調査の実施方法における検討と認知工学的実験の準備も進めていく予定である．さらに，収集した調査データの分析から，信頼感の背後にある要因と信頼感を定量的な関係に表すための共分散構造分析を進め，外向けHMIにおける歩行者の信頼感に関するフレームワークを構築しようと考えている．
