農村女性の労働は、家事労働者として、また農業生産面でも多々無償労働として位置付けられている。しかし、その一方で、とくに途上地域の農村女性は生活面で男性に優位性を示している。「女性の生活労働(無償労働)」と「男性の生産労働(有償労働)」の分断的な研究のあり方をいかに社会システムとして統合させていくか、などを研究目的としている。本件の調査研究の概要は下記の通りである。1.女性の生活労働(無償労働)の社会的位置づけ:途上地域において女性の存在が優位性を示しているのは、家事・育児労働のほかに労働祭祀労働の主たる担い手であるためである、と仮説をたて、祭祀(習慣)と農業生産(経済)のあり方を、沖縄県久高島、今帰仁村崎山集落、平良市池間島において調査・研究をおこなった。祭祀労働は、島や集落を管理・統治する手段として機能しており、単に宗教的な機能だけではないこと、また社会的生産システムのなかに男性の祭祀労働を組み込んだ視座を得た。男性労働との性別分業の社会的意味合いとその変容課程、ルースな社会を再生産するタイトな社会構造、など「対概念」の重要性について考察した。2.女性の生産労働(有償労働):タイにおける調査では、日本向け輸出生産をおこなっている集約的野菜生産地域での生活時間調査から、女性の持続的可能性のある農業生産と生活の取り組みについての調査をおこなった。また、比較調査として、奈良県内の農事組合法人の優良事例を選出し、法人内での労務管理分析および生活労働・自家農業労働との調整方法と、労働主体としてのそれらの労働の統合方法について検討した。

Women's production (paid labor): Survey of export production to Japan, survey of intensive potherb production areas, survey of living time, survey of possibility of women's persistence in agricultural production and selection of living groups. A comparative survey was conducted to select excellent examples of agricultural combination corporations in Nara Prefecture, to analyze business management in corporations, to analyze living conditions, to adjust methods of agricultural self-employment, and to examine methods of integration of agricultural self-employment in corporations.
