本研究では、3年間熟成させたみます柿渋原液((株)三枡嘉七商店)を利用して、一般繊維製品に用いられるシルケット加工綿ニットと綿金巾に柿渋染色を試みた。綿布は染まりにくい性質を持つため、前処理としてカチオン化処理を行った。媒染剤には硫酸銅を用い、また一部条件にはソーピング処理を行った。得られた柿渋染色布について、洗濯、汗、摩擦、耐光堅ろう度試験、アンモニア・酢酸に対する消臭試験、紫外線遮蔽性試験、大腸菌・MRSAに対する抗菌性試験を行った。抗菌性試験は(一財)ニッセンケン品質評価センター東京事業所に依頼した。前処理、重ね染め、媒染を繰り返して色味の異なる染色布を得ることができた。洗濯、汗堅ろう度試験では、汚染堅ろう度は高かったが、変退色堅ろう度は未媒染布で濃色化した。これは試験液の酸やアルカリと柿渋液が反応したためと考えられる。そこで柿渋液を酸性液、アルカリ液で溶かし、吸光度を測定するとアルカリ液で吸光度が高くなった。このことから柿渋液はアルカリ液に溶けやすいことがわかった。摩擦試験(湿潤)では堅ろう度が低くなった。耐光堅ろう度は実用範囲内だった。アンモニアと酢酸に対する消臭性は高く、特にカチオン化処理と銅媒染を加えた布が高くなった。紫外線遮蔽性については、柿渋染色布のみの紫外線遮蔽率はブロード綿布で88%以上、メリヤス綿布で98%以上となり、重ね染めに媒染を加えるとさらに高い紫外線遮蔽率を持つ柿渋染色布が調製できることがわかった。大腸菌・MRSAに対し抗菌性があることもわかった。これらの結果から、柿渋染色布は独特の色味、比較的高い堅ろう性、各種機能性を持つことがわかり、一般繊維製品、消臭や抗菌が問題となる医療や介護現場での製品に実用可能であると言える。今後はアルカリの影響を抑制する方法や低い堅ろう性を示した試験の再検討を行い、高齢者衣料や寝具類などへの展開を図っていく。
