本研究は、国語科読書指導における効果的な教育評価のあり方を実証的に明らかにすることを目指したものである。まず、理論的な枠組みを設定するために、米国における理解するための方法に関連する書籍を訳出・分析した。この検討により、児童に理解方略の使用にかかる責任を段階的に委譲する指導モデルが有効であると考えられていること、理解するための方法と理解の成果を区別して、児童たちが表現することができるようにすることが、自立した読者へと成長していくうえで重要であると考えられていることを明らかにした。次に、こうした知見をもとに、検証授業(小学3年生対象)を実施した。実践を進めるうえで、一人ひとりの児童との対話を通した形成的評価を行っていくことにより、児童の読んだ作品についての理解についての記述量が増え、その内実も表面的な理解からより深い理解を示すものへと変化することができるようになることが明らかになった。この際、児童自身が自分の使った理解するための方法を特定するとともに、理解するための方法を用いることがどのような理解の成果をもたらすことになったのかを分けて発言させたり記述させたりすることが有効であると考えられた。最後に、実施した検証授業での発話記録や児童の記述をもとに、理解するための方法の使用の効用について分析した。この分析において、継続的に上述のように理解するための方法と理解の成果を分けて発言したり記述したりするように指導したことにより、児童たちは自分たちの読書行為において理解構築パフォーマンスの内実を特定したり、理解の成果の内実をより具体的に説明することができるようになっていることが明らかになった。と同時に、連続的な理解構築パフォーマンスを適切に特定することが難しい場面が多く見られた。このことから、今後は対象学年に応じた分析のあり方について、教師の関わり方を含めてより明らかにしていきたい。
