项目摘要

絶滅危惧種IB(環境省)にあげられるブッポウソウは、国内の各地において分布域の減少、生息個体数の減少が著しいとされる。その実態を把握し、保護策を講じていくことは急務である。平成19年度に、長野県教育委員会より信州大学教育学部中村浩志教授の研究室へ内地留学の機会を与えられ、本種の繁殖分布に関する調査を行うことができた。調査地は長野、新潟、岡山、鳥取の4県である。長野と新潟においては文献資料をもとに、過去に本種の生息・繁殖が確認された場所において、定点観察とセンサス調査をのべ658時間(50日)行った。なお、長野においては1985年より継続的に繁殖分布調査を行ってきている。新潟においては、1994年と1995年に、渡辺央氏を中心とする新潟県野鳥愛護会のメンバー22名によって、本種の全県的な分布調査が行われている(渡辺1998)。そして2007年にも同様の調査が行われ、調査結果の提供を得た。岡山では、日本野鳥の会岡山県支部により、1988年〜1992年まで全県的な分布調査が行われた。そして、1990年より吉備中央町において巣箱設置を開始し、以降継続的に詳細な繁殖状況の記録が行われている。2006年と2007年には同会の協力の下、峯光一氏(信州大学大学院生態研究室)が、同町において本種の繁殖分布と生態に関する調査を行っている。岡山では峯氏の協力を得て、繁殖分布調査を5日間行った。烏取では、日本野鳥の会鳥取県支部の土居氏、池田氏、松本氏、桐原氏にご協力をいただき、日南町と南部町で2日間繁殖分調査を行った。その結果、長野では16番い、新潟では2番い、岡山では115番い、鳥取では27番いの繁殖を確認することができた。各地の分布の変遷についてみると、繁殖番い数の増減が巣箱設置の有無に大きく関係していることが明らかとなり、巣箱設置の有効性を実証することができた。
