<研究目的>学習障害、特に読み書き障害がある小学生が、パソコン等の支援機器を読み書きの補助代替手段として、通常学級の授業中に使用するための具体的支援策を明らかにすることを目的とした。<研究方法>読み書き障害児3名(小学4年男子、小学5年女子、小学6年男子)の事例研究を行った。それぞれの児童に、読み書きの困難さを補助代替する機器として、ノートパソコン(先読み機能付き日本語入力ソフト、テキスト読み上げソフト等インストール済み)、プリンター、スキャナーを準備し、児童が在籍する小学校で支援機器を使用して使用上の課題を探った。<研究成果>小学4年生男子は、校長が校長室に、休み時間等に自由に使えるパソコンとプリンターとして設置し、対象児童が他児童の目を気にしないで使えそうな環境を作った。しかし、本人は、それまでに低下していた学習意欲が回復しなかったためか、家庭で母親の代筆によって宿題はするようになったが、自発的には筆記用具としてパソコンは使用しなかった。小学5年女子は、パソコンを教室に持ち込むことを校長と担任が許可し、本研究者が、対象児童が在籍する学級で障害理解の授業を行い、他の児童もその児童がパソコンを使うことに理解を示した。しかし、本人はパソコンを使うことを選択しなかった。他児童と違うことをする、という状況を受け入れられなかったようである。小学6年男子は、小学校が支援機器の使用に対して消極的であった上に、対象児童も6月以降不登校になってしまい、支援機器の教室での使用研究にまで進めなかった。本研究で明らかになったことは、支援機器使用以前の問題の大きさである。すなわち、学習障害児の学習意欲を低下させず不登校にさせない教員の正しい障害理解と適切な支援であり、一人だけ違うことが自然にできる学級集団作りの重要さである。
