1 研究目的次の三点を具体的な目的とした。(1)学年・単元・学習内容に応じて、「どのような書式」で「どのような内容」を書くかについて分析しその系統性を明らかにする。(2)(1)に対応した、効果的な指導法を明らかにする。(3)地域や校内において(1)の系統性と(2)の指導法の共有化を図るとともに、その客観性と精度を高める。2 研究方法学年ごと、特定の内容ごとに(事例的に)、書く内容、言語活動の水準を系統化し、それを実証的に確認した。さらに、学内、地域で共有化を図り、精度を高めていった。その際の「書くこと」の指導の手がかりは、イギリスのカリキュラム(ナショナル・カリキュラム、以下NC)の詳細な基準、さらにその手だてとした。3 研究成果NCでは、次のa)～d)のような点を重視していることが分かった。a)必ず主語と動詞の入った文を書かせている(文を指導の単位と見なしている)。b)書式を規定し、文章を書かせている(考えるプロセスを明確化し、深い理解につなげる)。c)当たり前と思えることでも、定義から進むという教え方をしている。d)書くことの訓練を行っている。このような点を重視した指導により、児童の「書くこと」の内容には明らかな変化が見られた。児童の書く文章の論理性が向上した。「事実」をもとに自らの「考え」を述べるようになった。また、既習事項から学習上の課題について捉えたり、推論したりするようになった。
