教師が日常的に教育について意見交換し、協同的に学び合う機会が著しく乏しいのではないかという問題意識をもとに、協同的な学びの場を生み出し、そこに新しい知を創出していくことのできる『Round Study』の手法を確立していくことを試みた。そのため、勤務校を始め、自身が研究に関わるっている学校、Round Study研究の協力を得た幾つかの小学校等の様々な場で『Round Study』を実践し、参加者の姿の観察、各グループでのディスカッションやFinal Roundにおける発話分析、事後アンケート等を行うことで、そこに展開する協同知の創出のプロセスの分析を進めてきた。また、教育方法学会、京都大学大学院教育学研究科主催のE. Forum、福井大学ラウンド・テーブル、愛知県豊川市立一宮南部小学校研究発表会等において、その手法の紹介を行い、様々な立場の人達からRound Studyについての意見を求めてきた。これらを集約し、Round Studyの手引きとなるリーフレットの完成版を、数度における改訂の後、2月に作成することができた。研究の成果として、Round Studyという学びの場に参画する教師の変容が次の3つの場面で多くみられることが明らかになった。①他者から得た情報を自分の言葉に置き換えそれをまた他者に伝える場面(Round 2)、②模造紙に書かれた多くの情報を短冊に短いセンテンスとしてまとめ上げていく場面(Round 3)、③黒板上に貼られた多くの短冊をカテゴライズしそこから全体の景色をとらえる場面(Final Round)。①については、この手法開発のもとになったワールド・カフェがもつ席替えの効果である。②の短冊へのまとめ、③の短冊を活用しての黒板上での全体討議については、Round Studyがもつ特性による効果である。また、Round Eにおけるパフォーマンス評価は、参加者が自分の学びについて見直すための手掛かりとなった。今後の課題としては、小グループの学びを促すホストの役割の明確化、教師の年齢層の違いによる学びの効果の差異の検証が挙げられる。
