感染性心内膜炎の病因に関連する現象として可能性が高いと考えられる血小板との凝集について検討した。種々のヒト口腔由来“Streptococcus milleri"菌株のうち、平成7年度課題番号07772036「“Streptococcus milleri"のラット実験心内膜炎の誘発能について」に用いた、18菌株(S.anginosus:8株、S.constellatus:5株、S.intermedius:5株)を用いて実験を行い、“S.milleri"groupの血小板凝集能の有無、3菌種間での能力の差異を調べた。“S.milleri"は血小板にたいして2:1の割合で反応させた時に最適の値を示した。この時、S.anginosus:5株、S.constellatus:2株、S.intermedius:1株が血小板を凝集した。LancefieldのF群、G群に属する菌株は血小板を凝集し、A群、C群に属する菌株は血小板を凝集しなかった。これにより、“S.milleri"の血小板凝集と心内膜炎の誘発能の間には強い相関は認められないことがわかった。しかしながら、S.anginosusにこれを凝集する菌株が多く存在することが明らかになった。この時、血漿の割合を減じると凝集が低下することから血漿中に補助因子が存在すること、EDTA存在下では凝集しないことから2価の陽イオンが関係していること、が示唆された。今後は、菌体の表層に存在する血小板凝集因子、血漿中の補助因子についての検討が必要である。また、感染性心内膜炎の病因に関連すると思われる他の現象(fibronectin 結合能、laminine結合能など)についても検討すべきである。

The etiology of infective endocarditis and infective endocarditis is similar to that of other diseases (fibronectin binding energy, laminine binding energy).
