平成10年度においては、次の二つの研究目的を追究し、以下の成果を得た。(1) ドイツにおいても従来研究の少なかった情報伝達(郵便)制度史に関する近年の研究動向に学び、広域情報伝達システムとしての帝国(神聖ローマ帝国)郵便の機能の成立と展開を、帝国国制との連関に留意しつつ、追究した。この研究目的は、京都大学人文科学研究所西洋部の共同研究「コミュニケーションの社会史」への参加(平成9年7月に研究報告「広域情報伝達システムの展開とThurn und Taxsis 家」を行なった)を通じて展開され、研究成果は、前川和也編著『コミュニケーションの社会史』 (ミネルヴァ書房)に寄稿された。(2) 帝国の統合における二つの原理、すなわち連邦制的原理と皇帝を頂点とするレーエン制的原理のうち、近年ようやく研究成果が公表され始めた後者について、とりわけ帝国議会の主催者としての皇帝の位置づけに即した検討を進めた。具体的には、皇帝を頂点として、帝国議会の出席者(聖俗の諸侯、都市民などの諸身分)の間で設定されていた「席次」に注目し、慣習的にこれを定式化した「席次規定」を検討の対象にすえた。この研究内容の骨子については、平成10年9月にミュンスター(ドイツ連邦共和国)で開催された、第48回「身分制代議制議会史国際委員会」において、口頭報告を行なう機会を得た。あわせてこの渡独では、ニュルンベルクの国立文書館においてレヴューを行なった。

The following results were achieved in the research objectives of Heisei 10. (1)In recent years, research trends in the field of information transmission and the establishment and development of the functions of postal services in the empire have been studied and investigated. The purpose of this research is to participate in the joint research "Social History of the Community" conducted by the Western Department of the Graduate School of Humanities, Kyoto University (July 2009). The research report "Development of Domain Information and Transformation" was carried out. The research results were submitted to the "Social History of the Community" compiled by Kazuya Maekawa. (2)The principle of imperial integration and the principle of imperial confederacy have been discussed in recent years. The specific "seat" of the imperial parliament (the status of the holy princes and citizens) was set up and the "seat regulations" were discussed. In September 2010, the International Committee on the History of Representative Parliament of the Identity System was opened and oral reports were given.あわせてこの渡独では、ニュルンベルクの国立文书馆においてレヴューを行なった。
