ジュニア期におけるスポーツ活勤と防衛体カの関係について検討するために,小学5年生の児童約700名を対象に,2ケ月間におけるかぜの罹患状況を調査した.調査は質問紙法により行った.調査項目は,感染症時によくみられる鼻水・鼻づまり,せき・たん,のどの痛み,腹痛・下痢,発熱,疲労感などとした.また,ウィルスとの接触確率を低くすること,保温を行うこと,不調の時には無理をしないことを指針としたかぜ予防ガイドラインを作成し,対象をかぜ予防ガイドラインを用いたかぜ予防対策実施群と対象群にわけ,かぜ症状の出現頻度,有症状日数,症状の平均持続日数などを比較した.あわせて,かぜ予防対策の実施状況も調査した.その結果,かぜ対策実施群および対象群において,鼻水・鼻づまり,せき・たん,のどの痛み,腹痛・下痢,発熱,疲労感などの出現頻度,有症状日数,症状の平均持続日数に有意な差は認められなかった.かぜ対策実施状況を両群で比較すると,その実施率にも差は認められなかった.しかし,実施率の高い児童ほど症状の出現頻度,有症状日数,症伏の平均持続日数は低い傾向が認められた.調査に用いた質問紙にかぜ対策実施状況の調査項目が含まれていた結果,両群ともかぜ対策の実施状況に差が生しなかったために,かぜの罹患状況に差が認められなかったと考えられる.
