本年度は、第一に平成12年10月13日から3日間にわたり、島根県隠岐郡の中ノ島、西ノ島、知夫里島、島後の4島で現地調査に臨んだ。隠岐群島は水域環境に関する情報に富んだフィールドであるが、この調査では、(1)教育委員会・公民館・歴史民俗資料館・高等学校図書室での歴史文献・水産資料・地図類の収集、(2)史跡や水域の現地踏査、などを実施し、隠岐群島の水域環境とその歴史的背景に関する多くの知見を得ることができた。第二に、前年度以来集積してきている水域環境史関係の基礎データのパソコンへの入力を学生に委託し、12月に実施した。第三に平成13年1月13日からの3日間、滋賀県立琵琶湖博物館において生物学・自然地理学・考古学・漁業学・民俗学の各研究者とともに、魚類に焦点をあてた環境史研究の方法について意見交換した。そこで私は「自然と人の関係史-生業としての漁撈に注目して-」という報告を行ったが、これは本研究の成果を集約した内容であり、雑誌『月刊地球』にも投稿する予定である。主要な論点としては、(1)自然と人との双方向的な関係自体を主題化する方法の提示、(2)水域・魚類の生態的条件と漁獲の技術的条件から水産資源の配分方式と漁撈の権利関係構築への道筋、(3)自然・魚・人の三者関係に規定された社会統合のあり方と地域性、(4)漁撈技術の発達条件としての水産物の流通・消費過程(水産物の耐久度の問題)、の4点を指摘している。

"The history of the relationship between nature and human beings- The main points are: (1) the bi-directional relationship between nature and human beings, the suggestion of theming method,(2) the ecological conditions of water area and fish, the technical conditions of fishing, the allocation mode of aquatic resources, the relationship between fishing and profit, the construction of channel tendons,(3) the regulation of the relationship between nature, fish and human beings, the regional integration of social aspects, and the regional integration of social aspects.(4) The development conditions of fishing technology, the circulation and consumption process of aquatic products (the durability of aquatic products), and the four points of criticism.
