前年度の実験にてアドバシールの塗布によって腸閉塞を起こしたラットや胃壁の伸展不良がみられたラットがみられた。ことからアドバシール塗布の際に切開部の周囲をガーゼで被い塗布面が2×1.5cm以内の広さになるようにしアドバシールの量も1ml以下の少量で薄く塗布するように使用方法を変更および統一し、前年度と同様に術後4日目、7日目、28日目でbursting pressure(以下、BP)の測定や縫合部の病理学的検索を行った。その結果、腸閉塞などの合併症はみられなかった。しかし、創傷治癒に関する結果は同様で、アドバシールは術後早期では切開創の強化に有効であったが、7日目になると逆にコントロール群より悪くなったという結果になった。その上、病理学的観察でも、7日目には縫合部が完全に離開して、縫合部周囲が壊死を起こしている症例がみられた。また、28日目では一部がまだ吸収されずに縫合部周囲に残っていた。そこで、実験内容を変更し、アドバシールを手術によりラットの皮下に約1ml注入し、組織への吸収をみる実験を行った。その結果、28日後も3例全例でアドバシールが皮下に残存し、1例が感染を合併した。以上より、ADVASEALは消化管に対するsealing効果はないと判断された。また、製剤そのものの検討(組織吸収時間がもう少し早くなるようにする)は製剤の入手の都合で行えなかった。よって本実験は、腎不全モデルを使って更に続行する予定であったが、ADVASEALの消化管への使用は困難と思われたため、途中で中断となった。
