The project is integrated in the national program „Digitisation of Historical Newspapers in the German-Speaking Areas”. The aim of the project is the digitisation, the generation of metadata and fulltext and the open-access online publication of all issues of "Germania", altogether 38 years with about 285,000 pages. The project will provide a historic newspaper for academic research that has been identified as a “the first party newspaper of the Zentrum” (i.e. the German Catholic Centre Party) and a “main organ of the Centre Party policy”.
