英文摘要
Consumption of beverages from cans is extremely common. Soda consumption is the most frequent exposure to Bisphenol A-containing epoxy resin lining of cans. The burden of Bisphenol A (BPA) exposure resulting from canned sodas is significant and has not been sufficiently studied. Coca-cola has a high acidity level with a pH of 2.5 fostering BPA leaching from the epoxy lining. Similarly, canned soda consumption may raise blood pressure due to the BPA content of cans. This would have significant implications given the continuing increase of hypertension in the population. We therefore propose to conduct a randomized single-blind cross-over intervention trial to evaluate urinary BPA concentrations after consuming coca-cola from cans to address these significant questions.
