本年度は、(1)平成16年度および平成17年度に実施した調査・研究の検討、(2)平成17年度よりの継続調査、(3)新規調査、(4)研究目的であるモデル開発、の4項目を行った。各項目の概要は以下のとおりである。1)平成16年度および平成17年度に実施した調査・研究の検討:平成16年度に実施した質問紙調査結果に関する多変量解析結果を再検討した。同調査は、本研究の主フィールドである通称「奈良町」(奈良市の旧市街地)の住民を対象に実施したものである。再検討の結果、補足の多変量解析を行った。また、平成17年度に実施した岐阜県白川郷(白川村)、長野県妻籠宿(南木曽町)などにおけるフィールド調査の結果を、J.ラスキンによる固有価値論、D.スロスビーによる文化資本論、および、P.ブルデューによる文化資本論を分析視角として再検討した。2)平成17年度よりの継続調査:奈良町の歴史、特に近世史を「まちづくり」の視点から解釈する作業を実施した。本年度は、D.スロスビーによる文化資本論、および、P.ブルデューによる文化資本論を分析視角とする解釈を行った。歴史的環境の維持を可能とした人々の志・制度・装置といったものを探った。3)新規調査:第1に、歴史的環境の維持と地域の自律性の視点から、鳥取県鳥取市鹿野町においてフィールド調査を実施した。鹿野町は、地域の自律性を重視するNPOと行政とのパートナーシップにより、歴史的環境整備およびヘリテージ・ツーリズム振興が展開されている地域である。文化と経済とをつなぐ取り組みもなされている。NPOの志に応え、歴史的環境整備を可能としたのはソーシャル・キャピタルとしての地縁組織であることなどがわかった。第2に、歴史的環境の保存・保全(活用しつつ保存すること)、および、歴史的環境を資源とした観光に関する最新の状況を把握するため、第29回全国町並みゼミ八女福島大会に出席した。全国の歴史的環境の維持・保全などに関する情報を獲得すると同時に、意見交換を行った。4)研究目的であるモデル開発:内発的発展論・固有価値論・文化資本論を分析視角として、歴史的環境を資源とした観光の場における地域の自立的発展に向けたモデル開発を試みた。
