本研究では、俳徊や問題行動、また、施設入居中の帰宅願望や不穏行動を示す認知症高齢者に対してのSnoezelen環境の効果を、標準化されたスケールを用いて学術的に実証していくことを目的とた。本研究の期間内ではSnoezelen環境の効果を実証できるまでにはいたらなかった。そこで再度これまでの文献を整理して考えてみた結果、認知症高齢者の行動変容は、Snoezelenによるものなのか、人的環境の影響によるものなのかがはっきり示されていない。今後は変数の整理をした上での研究が必要であると考える。そのため、本研究においても認知症高齢者の行動変容は、Snoezelenによるものなのか、Snoezelen環境にいる高齢者と接した看護者または介護者による人的環境の影響によるものなのかの変数を整理したうえでさらなる研究へと進めていく必要ある。そうすることで、効果的なSnoezelenの実施に向けた環境調整への示唆を得ることができると考えられる。また、行動変容は、介護者が管理しやすい行動への変容ととらえることよりも、認知症高齢者のQOLを考えた行動変容としてとらえることとして定義をしっかり示した上で研究を進めていくことも重要である。さらにエビデンスとなるような、客観的で信頼性の高いデータを集めるためにも、認知症高齢者の行動の変化だけではなく、脳生理学的な測定方法をも加え、実施していくことが今後の課題である。
