In 1989 the influence of external factors on the laser card was examined using dummy data. It was found that sunlight had a strong influence on the quality of the card.New software capable of recording digital data, character data, graphic data and ECG was developed by us, and handling of reading and writing data on the laser card was performed using this software.Medical data on 108 patients were recorded on the laser cards. During this process, 8 cards were found to contain writing errors. However, in a period of 6 months when the patients kept their cards, no reading error occurred. Thereafter, a few writing errors occurred during a one-year period. From these results, it was necessary to improve the reliability of the laser card for clinical use.These results were reported in the U.S.A. at the Second Conference on Patient Cards, March 1990.

1989年，使用虚拟数据检查了外部因素对激光卡的影响。我们研制了一套能记录数字数据、字符数据、图形数据和心电图的软件，并利用该软件对激光卡进行了阅读和写数据的处理，对108例患者的医疗数据进行了记录。在此过程中，发现8张卡片存在书写错误。然而，在患者保留卡片的6个月期间，未发生阅读错误。此后，在一年的时间里出现了一些书写错误。根据这些结果，有必要提高激光卡在临床应用中的可靠性，这些结果在1990年3月美国第二届病人卡会议上作了报告。
