Export Oriented Industrialisation and Domestic Rural Market--Comparative Studies of the Western Pacific Regions.

亚洲国家一直在通过出口导向型工业化追求经济发展。亚洲地区的经济发展与农业部门的市场息息相关。我们选择了三个亚洲国家来研究工业化与市场的关系。以往的研究往往忽视了农业在工业化中的重要作用，因为许多研究都是关于香港或新加坡的经济发展，这些地区的农业在发展中的作用很小。但在人口众多的国家，如韩国、泰国和土耳其，农村经济在购买工业品、为工业提供劳动力和资本方面具有重要作用。农村经济作为一个市场特别重要，特别是在发展的初期，因为生产的商品主要针对农村经济占主要部分的国内市场。在这些国家，工业化是为了替代进口而开始的。在初步发展的基础上，采取了以出口为导向的工业化战略。本研究通过统计数据分析、实地调查等方式，阐明了农业部门对亚洲经济发展的重要性。研究结果以附件形式总结。我们会就这个课题进行更全面的研究，并会在一年内公布研究结果。

Asian countries have been pursuing economic development through export-oriented industrialization. Economic development in Asian region is closely related to the market of agricultural sector. We have chosen three Asian countries for the study of the relationship between industrialization and market. Furthermore, comparative study of the relationship with Japan was also made.Former studies in this field have a tendency to neglect the important role of agriculture on industrialization, because many of the studies are on economic development in Hong Kong or Singapol where agriculture has minimal role in development.However, countries, such as Korea, Thaiand or Turkey with large population, rural economy has an essential role in purchasing industrial commodities, providing industries with labor forces and capital. Rural econmy as a market is important especially at the initial stage of development, because commodities produced are mainly targeted to the domestic market where rural economy has a major portion.In these countries, industrialization started for the purpose of import substitution. Based on the initial development, export oriented industrialization strategy was taken afterward.This study illustrated the importance of agricultural sector on economic develpoment in Asia by way of analyzing statistical data, conducting field research.Results of the study is summarized as an atached report. Furhter comprehensive study on this subject will be conducted and the results will be published in one year.
