1.既刊の発掘調査報告書等から、白河の条坊地割に関連すると思われる、平安時代末期から室町時代にかけての遺構を抽出し、国土座標第VI座標系の座標値に変換し、汎用CADソフトのAutoCADに、ディジタイザ用いて入力し、遺構の図形情報からなるデータベースを作成した。また、R:BASEに、遺構の時期、種類、方位などの属性を入力し、遺構の文字情報からなるデータベースを作成した。2.これらの図形情報と文字情報をリンクし、条件の一致する遺構だけを図示したり、図の中で指示した図形の文字情報を表示するなど、図形とその属性の間を双方向に検索できる遺構情報データベースを作成した。図形情報と文字情報のリンクには、地理情報システムのひとつであるGEO/SQLを用いる予定であったが、AutoCADの新版もSQLに対応し(ASE-SQL)、リンクが可能となったため、ふたつのシステムを比較しながら研究をすすめた。3.CADの拡大、縮小、画層の重ね合わせ機能などを用いて、条坊の復原案を作成し、コンピュータの画面の中で重ね合わせて、復原案の方位や造営尺を検証し、復原を試みた。条坊地割の推定範囲内における遺構の絶対数がやや少なく、条坊地割の復原案は既発表の域をでなかったものの、こうしたシステムの復原作業における有効性を実証できた。4.本研究を進めていく過程で、ある街区、寺院、邸宅や、街路などの空間的広がりと、その空間に関連する文献情報を双方向に検索するシステムの必要性が高まった。例えば、天皇の御幸路のような街路に関する文献情報を検索・表示するような遺跡データベースの構築を今後の課題としたい。
