项目摘要

本年度の学会活動は、従来進めている禅宗相伝資料としての抄物資料の集成の作業と、これに伴う切紙研究のテーマを中心として行ったまず、資料調査の作業は3回実施し、京都市北区寺町天寧寺の切紙調査では、近世江戸期に書写された禅宗相伝資料を多数収集することができたが、中世から近世にかけての時期における切紙相伝の実態というものに、ある程度見当をつけることができた。次に、秋田県鷹巣町綴子にある八幡宮神社には、膨大な量の修験道関係の切紙・相伝資料が所蔵されており、ここの調査・撮影収集作業を通し、切紙資料が禅宗の中の曹洞宗だけでなく、修験道にも実際に多数伝承されていること、およびその中には、神仏習合の思潮や、中世の民間に広く浸透した陰陽道との関係などが顕著に見出され、これらは禅宗切紙にも共通するものであるが、相互の関係はいかにあったのかという、新たな研究テーマが浮上するに至った。もちろんこうした思潮に関する指摘が従来なかったわけではないが、切紙資料には実際の呪法の行い方や、凶神とされた「金神」の方角の見極め方などが時宜に即して具体的に記されており、こうした思潮が実際社会でどのように受け止められ行われていたかについて、中世から近世にかけての実態を如実に物語る資料を多く発掘できたと言えよう。なお3回目調査の高山寺や奈良博委託の『釈迦牟尼仏五百大願』は、古代〜中世にかけての釈迦信仰の実態を伝える資料であるが、この検討は今後の課題とする。
