[目的]小・中・高校の教師がストレス耐性をどのように醸成しているかを調査すること。[方法]1)ストレス尺度(マスラックとウイルソン)、2)PAS(Picture Arrangement & Story)、3)ストレス耐性基礎調査票(倉戸試案)を500名の教師に施行した。[結果]1)ストレス耐性を醸成しているものはマスラックスとウイルソンのいずれの「ストレス尺度」においても低いストレス状態を示す傾向にあり、PASにおいては「楽観性」と「高い作業関心」などのキイが抽出されている。2)ストレスを克服する方法が個別的で、かつ運動やレクリエーションなど身体を用いたり、食事や飲酒など飲食によっているという傾向が抽出された。3)ストレス耐性は高校の教師が一番高く、ついで小学校の教師であった。中学校の教師の耐性が一番低いという結果であった。[考察]1)の結果は予期していたものではあるが、再認識する結果といえよう。またPASの結果については先行研究がなく、新しい知見を提供している。2)については、ストレスの発生源が、職業的ストレス(job stress)といわれているので、その克服する方法や場が組織的でなく個別的で個人的である点が今後のストレス耐性を醸成すると方法として考えて行かねばならない点を示唆していると思われる。3)は中学校に教育の問題が集中しているといわれる昨今の教育現場のありさまを反映している結果かもしれない。憂慮されることであり、ストレス研究の立場からは、中学校教師が適切で、かつ有効なストレスの克服法を獲得することが望まれる。
