長谷川博隆は、自ら編者として前年度に公表した著書『古典古代とパトロネジ』中の論文「クリエンテーラ〜パトロネジの底にあるもの」を踏まえ、クリエンテラを支える理念フィデス(fides)についての研究を進めた。フィデスとポテスタス(potestas)及びポテンティア(potentia)との関連性を究明することにより、普通、信義に訳される理念フィデスの「力」的な性格、ひいてはクリエンテラ自体の(1)強制・拘束力、その内たる(2)具体的な力の要素を明らかにすることができた。これを基礎に、古代ローマ史研究における古くて新しい課題、しかし歴史学以外の広い領域では現在最も斬新な枠組み(=課題)となっているパトロネジ(クリエンテラ)の基本的な性格解明に寄与することができたと思う。なお長谷川博隆は、未だ公表の段階には達していないが、地縁的な結合という祖角を「アルゲイの祭り」の問題解明のために再び(〓にモムゼンの行なうところ)導入することの可能性と一方で老若の対立とクリエンテラの接点を模索しつつある。このような長谷川博隆の理念史的な研究に対して、砂田徹の研究は、構造史的な研究というべきであり、紀元前三世紀に焦点を絞り、トリグスという地縁的な結合体とケントリアという財産(土地)に基づく戦士共同体との、相互の力関係の揺れと、その統合過程の中に働くパトロネジ(クリエンテラ)の問題を考えている。長谷川論文は、別記の通り公表されているが、砂田論文「ケントリア民会の改革とローマ共和政中期のトリブス」は本年中に雑誌『古代学』に掲載の予定である(従って、別記はしていない)。
