今回の研究では、比較的短期的な経済時系列データを扱う場合の季節変動成分の処理について検討した。まず、センサス局法などの季節変動調整プログラムによって季節変動を処理した系列からは真のラグ構造を推定できないことを指摘した。一方で通常のダミー変数の利用方法によっては、センサス局法などの移動平均に共通してみられる利点である可変的季節変動成分を表現できず、これも現実の経済時系列データの特徴である可変的季節変動成分の除法には不十分であることを論じた。その上で、ベイジアンの手法によって可変的な季節変動パターンを持つ経済時系列データを扱うための汎用的な手法を導入し、その理論的な構成を論じた。また、提案する手法を従来の手法と比較して、どのような点で本質的な違いが生ずるかという問題を、消費関数の推定について実際的に比較した。その結果、わが国のマクロ消費関数における第一次石油危機の前後の一見構造的な変化は、提案された手法を用いて適切な季節変動パターンの修正を行えば、安定的なラグパターンによる基本的なモデルで説明可能であることが確認された。以上の議論の途中経過は昨年末の「ベイズ統計学の国際シンポジウム」において報告した。完成した論文も、間もなく学会誌に公表される予定である。
