本研究では、特定一施設を利用する成人期の知的障害者を対象として、脂肪分布を中心に肥満の実態を明らかにすることを目的にした。対象は知的障害者施設の104名(男性74名、女性30名)、年齢は19歳から67歳、平均年齢は36.7±9.4歳である。同年齢・同性のボランティアに対して本研究の意義を説明し同意を得てコントロール群とした。対象者全員に身長、体重、腹囲、血圧測定、Abdominal Bioelectric Impedance(ABI)法による内臓脂肪面積、血液(生化学)検査を行った。身長と体重からBMIを算出した。肥満度別の頻度分布は、コントロール群は男女とも、本邦の一般中年男女の肥満度分布とほぼ一致していた。しかし、コントロール群の同じ体重者と比較すると施設利用者の腹囲や内臓脂肪量は相対的に高値を示した。知的障害者は一般日本人に比較して体重あたりの腹囲が有意に大きいことが初めて明らかにされ、これが内臓脂肪蓄積の有意な増加に基づくことが示された。検査値の以上頻度は少ないが内臓脂肪や腹囲と血清中性脂肪値の尿酸値は有意な正相関を示した。知的障害者施設における体重維持管理はそれなりの成果を挙げてきているが、今後彼らに対して従来の方向と異なる取り組みの必要があることが示唆された。本研究の結果は、第16回アジア知的障害会議において発表し、更に投稿論文としてまとめているところである。

This study aims to explore the effects of a specific facility on the distribution of fat in adults. 104 (74 males and 30 females) were assigned to the victims who were aware of the phenomenon, aged 19 years to 67 years, and aged 36.7±9.4 years on average. In the same year, the author explained the significance of this study. All subjects were examined for body length, body weight, abdomen, blood pressure, Abdominal Bioelectric Impedance(ABI), internal fat area, and blood (biochemical) tests. Length and weight are calculated. The frequency distribution of obesity is consistent with that of middle-aged men and women in the country. For example, the weight of a person in a group is higher than the weight of a person in a group. The average Japanese person who knows the damage is a person who intentionally increases his or her body weight. The frequency of the above values is less than that of the serum neutral fat and uric acid values, and the positive correlation is significant. The results of weight maintenance management are different from those of other health care providers.
