Intimate partner violence (IPV), perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMAD) as well as stress related disorders are three global health care burdens affecting women of reproductive age, with detrimental consequences for both the individual and society. Especially during pregnancy and the postpartum period women have been shown to beparticularly vulnerable to the experience of IPV, PMAD, and/or posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Although equal access to health care is a central goal in all European health-care systems, international studies show that this aim has not been accomplishedyet and many women do not receive the help they need or that they would wish for. We will therefore investigate barriers and facilitating factors potentially associated with utilisation of treatment and counselling for IPV, PMAD, and/or PTSD for women in the postpartumperiod. That is, for each of the individual health burdens we will examine their health-seeking behavior, treatment and counselling preferences as well as barriers in order to improve and tailor treatment and counselling to the needs of postpartum women.
