项目摘要

1最終年度にあたる本年度は、前2年度に果たせなかった兄島、弟島への渡島にも成功し、従来見残してきた固有植物の大半について染色体、核型の観察とカウントを行なった。研究代表者の小野は9月から11月にかけてかなり長期に小笠原に滞在し、上記の研究を行なった。この結果、ムニンホンゴウソウを始めムニンタイトゴメ、オガサワラモクレイシ、チクセツランなどの固有種で、従来、細胞学的な研究がほとんど手つかずであった植物群について染色体数が初めて明らかになったほか、関連の近縁種との比較を通じて系統関係の考察に重要な資料を得た。またとくに弟島において、絶滅の危惧されていたオガサワラグワの純群落が見つかった。この種類はかつて、小笠原群島の発見当時には群島フロラの主要な構成種の一つであったが、その後の開拓と乱伐によってほとんど絶滅し、さらに養蚕用に移入されたシマグワとの自然交雑によって純粋なオガサワラグワの存在は今日では疑問視されている。今回の弟島の個体群について、アイソザイムの比較研究によってシマグワとの自然雑種形成の追跡をおこなっている。また分担者の川窪は8月に父島、母島で調査と研究に従事した。原固有のムラサキシキブ属について、ひきつづき性表現の特異性を追及し、この群島に侵入して以後の種分化が単系統的であることを実証的にあきらかにすることをめざしている。
