项目摘要

1. 先に見出した錯体のリオトロピック液晶,Na[Cr_2(L-tart_2H)(phen)_2]-H_2O系,の液晶構造を明らかにする一つの手段として錯体の単結晶のX線構造解析が有効と考えられる.しかし,その液晶性の故に水に対して敏感であり,解析に適した単結晶を得る多くの試みに失敗した.そこで,仕方なく液晶性ではないが類似錯体であるH[Cr_2(L-tart_2H)(bpy)_2]の構造解析で代用し液晶構造を推定していた。今回,上記Na^+塩と同様に液晶性を持つCs[Cr_2(L-tart_2H)(phen)_2]・6H_2Oの構造解析に成功した.その結果,液晶構造は錯体の作る単分子層と水分子の層が交互に積層したラメラ構造で,スメクチック型のリオトロピック液晶であることをより明確に推定することが出来た。2. 昨年,Na[Cr_2(L-tart_2H)(phen)_2]-H_2O系の液晶状に対して,相当した[Co(en)_3]^<3+>塩-水系が糸状組織を形成することを見出した。これらの系のX線小角散乱を測定し明瞭な反射ピークを得た。その結果,Na^+塩は濃度(0.1→0.5mol/kg)の増加と共に層間距離(180以上→70A)は連続的に小さくなり,[Co(en)_3]^<3+>塩では濃度と無関係(相分離する)に40Aであった。一方,結晶の層間距離は粉末X線回折と構造解析の結果から10.8Aであった.このような結果は上記ラメラ構造と良く対応しており,液晶状態においても結晶の構造が保持されていると推定される.これは分子軸が層面に平行なスメクチック液晶であり,サーモトロピック液晶も含めて新しい型の液晶構造であることが推定できた.
