農村社会における政治的リーダーシップの展開および住民生活の変容に関する基礎的研究として、政治的リーダーシップの現状を重層的に把握するために、新潟県岩船郡朝日村をケースに調査研究活動をつぎのとおり実施した。1.地域諸機関へのヒヤリングおよび資料収集(1)朝日村役場、(2)朝日村農協、(3)朝日村商工会、(4)朝日村高根生産森林組合、(5)朝日工芸事業協同組合2.地域リーダー層へのヒヤリングおよび質問紙調査(1)村長、(2)対立候補、(3)村会議員、(4)村役場幹部職員、(5)農協幹部職員、(6)地区選出県会議員、(7)村内各地区区長3.地域住民への質問紙調査(1)村長出身地区の一般住民の世帯主、(2)村長対立候補出身地区の一般住民の世帯主上記のヒヤリング・資料収集および質問紙調査を実施することにより、つぎの諸課題へのアプローチを試みた。(1)農村社会における地域リーダー各層の諸個人の生活史分析により、その出身階層に関する特質やリーダーシップの形成・展開過程に関する諸特性の解明、(2)リーダーシップの展開過程に関して、地域住民の生活史や現在の生産・労働ー生活過程を通しての解明、(3)リーダーシップの展開結果における、地域の産業・社会構造変動の解明、(4)今後の農村地域社会の活性化・自立化に関する政策諸課題やリーダーシップのあり方についての考察。
