项目摘要

自然現象における質的変化の機構を研究する分岐理論の研究に、位相幾何的手法を応用することを目的として、今年度は、田尾、平嶋、前田の3名は位相幾何的方法の研究を、山本は数値解析を含む応用数学への応用の研究を進めることとした。今年度の研究の実績としては、まず、田尾、平嶋、前田の3名は、92年7月に岩手大学で開催されたトポロジーシンポジュウムに出席し、他大学の研究者との交流、情報交換を行なった。一方、山本は、從来から研究を進めていたRyba kowskiらのhowetopy indexによる微分方程式の解の定性的研究に加えて、今年度より新たにAllgoirers Georgeらのnumerical continuationの方法についても研究を行ない、その結果を論文にまとめた。これらの研究によって得られた新たな知見としては、1.位相幾何の研究分野であるknot theryと分岐理論が深い関連をもっていることの知見。2.homotopyの応用についても、従来のindexの方法をさらにおし進めた“isolating block"の方法についての知見。3.位相幾何の数値解析への応用についても、従来のcontinuation methodの他に、有限要素法とも一脈通ずるpiecenise-liuearな分割による近似法についての知見。などがあげられるだろう。
